Sick Care

Families usually suffer along in silence with their pet when the animal isn’t feeling quite right. However, by bringing him or her to Weddington Animal Hospital you’ll be providing it with the best animal healthcare available in North Carolina. We are fully equipped and trained to take care of any type of medical situation that may arise and to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible while treating your long-time friend. We specialize in all facets of internal medicine including:

  •     Cardiology
  •     Ophthalmology
  •     Neurology
  •     Dermatology
  •     Gastroenterology
  •     Oncology
  •     Endocrinology

It’s quite possible your pet may be acting differently due to a behavioral problem rather than a physical one. Animals often suffer from behavioral issues such as separation anxiety, obsessive disorders, and excessive excitability. When pets show the symptoms of behavioral difficulties they’re treated by a trained animal behaviourist to help get to the root of the problem. After spending some quality time with the animal the behaviourist will then be able to solve any issues by creating a unique treatment plan designed specifically for your pet.

Unfortunately, the time will ultimately come when your family and pet will have to part ways. The tears will flow as you say your goodbyes, but you’ll be given the peace of mind knowing your dearest friend will be taken care of with love and dignity. Your pet’s comfort is our main concern at this time of sorrow and we’ll work closely with you when making arrangements for his or her remains.

It’s a well-known fact that an animal’s good oral health has a great deal to do with its overall health. This is why your pet’s teeth and gums should never be overlooked when it comes to proper healthcare. It may be hard to believe, but four out of every five dogs suffer from gum disease before they reach their third birthday and the pain human’s feel from cavities can also be experienced by cats. At Weddington Animal Hospital we make sure your pet’s oral health is taken care of with the best and most up-to-date dental methods available.

Ultrasonic equipment is used to make sure the animal’s teeth are safely and properly cleaned above and below the all-important gum line. We help reduce and fight plaque by polishing your pet’s teeth to a smooth, shiny finish. We then top it all off by administering a fluoride treatment to reduce sensitivity while hardening the enamel. Digital radiography is enlisted to help locate any deep-hidden dental problems and we also offer advanced oral care including braces, caps, and root canals.

Weddington Animal Hospital is absolutely wonderful! We have tried out a few around the area and this is our favorite. Recently our puppy swallowed something she wasn’t supposed to & everyone apart of the hospital took such good care of her. Dr. Faulkner is amazing! He explained everything into such great detail and we were happy to leave her in such great hands. Thank you Weddington Animal Hospital!
