Sick Care

There’s nothing worse than having to suffer alongside your pet when he or she isn’t feeling well. One of the best ways to keep them as healthy as possible is to make sure they’ve received all of their preventative immunization care. At Weddington Animal Hospital we’re fully equipped to take care of any issue that may present itself and to effectively manage any pain your pet may be feeling. All areas of internal medicine are thoroughly covered for your animal, including:

  •     Cardiology
  •     Ophthalmology
  •     Neurology
  •     Dermatology
  •     Gastroenterology
  •     Oncology
  •     Endocrinology

BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE

Not all pet illnesses can be traced back to physical problems as some animals may suffer from behavioral symptoms. These can include a variety of issues including obsessive disorders, separation anxiety, and excessive excitability. If your pet displays any of these symptoms a trained animal behaviorist will be brought in to help find the cause of the problem. They’ll be able to design a personalized treatment program for you and your pet to help resolve the situation.

END OF LIFE CARE

Nobody looks forward to saying goodbye to their loving pet, but unfortunately, it sometimes has to be done. When it’s time for your companion to continue his or her journey elsewhere we’ll provide your family and pet with the most dignified and comfortable end of life care possible. Our family of trained professionals will help you through this emotional time and make arrangements for your pet’s remains.

SURGICAL CARE

The most advanced animal-surgery techniques possible are available to our veterinary team to guarantee your pet is taken care of with the love and expertise he or she deserves. We also have a board-certified surgeon on hand if necessary. All pets are carefully screened before surgery with anaesthesia being administered specifically for your pet’s condition. Your long-time companion will also love our heated surgical tables and loving after-surgery care.

Surgical services include:

  • Spay and Neuter
  • Wound/Laceration care
  • Tumor removal
  • A variety of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries

If necessary, your pet may need to stay with us for the night after surgery so we can monitor his or her needs. We’ll carefully evaluate the animal’s well-being and institute a health and wellness plan specifically for your pet’s needs and condition. You’ll soon be reunited with your loving companion in the comfort of your home.

DENTAL CARE

Overall health and oral health go hand in hand and this is why it’s important to properly look after your pet’s teeth and gums. This is especially true considering that 80 percent of dogs develop gum disease by the time they’re three years old and cats can feel pain from tooth cavities the same way humans do.

We utilize the latest cleaning methods available to make sure your pet’s teeth are as healthy and clean as can be. Your pet’s teeth will be safely cleaned ultrasonically both below and above their gum line. The teeth are then polished to a smooth, lustrous finish to help fight off plaque. Tooth enamel can be strengthened and sensitivity reduced via fluoride treatments.

We also provide digital radiographs and x-rays for problems which can’t be detected by the naked eye as well as advanced dental care such as root canals, braces, and caps.

DIAGNOSTICS

Sometimes a physical exam just doesn’t provide us with the answers needed and this is where diagnostic tools can certainly help. Our animal hospital offers digital radiology options and an in-house laboratory to help speed up test results and treatments. If additional testing is required we’ll send samples to the necessary location for quick and accurate results.

Some of the diagnostic tools used include:

  •     CBC (Complete Blood Count)
  •     Chemistry Panel
  •     Urinalysis
  •     Digital Radiology (X-Rays)
  •     Heartworm Testing
  •     Feline Leukemia/Feline Aids Testing
  •     Intestinal Parasite Screening
  •     Fluid and Tissue Cytology
  •     Ear and Skin Cytology
  •     Fungal Cultures

Just switched over to Weddington Animal Hospital a couple months ago… and WOW what a great choice! Everyone there is so friendly and keep you very informed on your furry friend. I feel very confident leaving my dog with Dr. Faulkner! If you are looking for more then just your average vet, WAH is the place to be.

Weddington Animal Hospital is absolutely wonderful! We have tried out a few around the area and this is our favorite. Recently our puppy swallowed something she wasn’t supposed to & everyone apart of the hospital took such good care of her. Dr. Faulkner is amazing! He explained everything into such great detail and we were happy to leave her in such great hands. Thank you Weddington Animal Hospital!
