Katherine T. Armstrong, DVM

Dr. Armstrong is a 1979 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. After practicing in Atlanta for 3 years, she founded Monroe Animal Hospital in 1983 and Weddington Animal Hospital in 1999. Her special interests are dentistry and dermatology. Dr. Armstrong serves on the Union County Board of Health, the Emergency Veterinary Clinic Board of Directors, and is an active member of the Monroe Rotary Club. She lives in Monroe with her Great Pyreneeses Pooh and Chester, her Ragdoll kitties Tyler and Cassie, and her husband Larry. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing and hiking.

Kelly P. Baete, DVM

Dr. Baete moved to Charlotte from Indiana where she received her veterinary degree from Purdue University in 2004. She enjoys internal medicine, ultrasound, surgery, and ophthalmology. She and her husband James, who is also a small animal veterinarian, live in Matthews with their cat Lily and their beloved Pit Bull Rascal (pictured). They also have a Quarter Horse mare named Leanna who is boarded in South Carolina. In her free time, Dr. Baete enjoys the outdoors, camping, horseback riding, spending time with friends, and reading.

Noel A. Berger, DVM, MS, DABLS

Dr. Berger graduated from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 1988. In the ensuing five years he worked in a private practice, several emergency veterinary clinics, and also provided relief services to veterinary hospitals in the New England area. In 1994 he founded Boston Road Animal Clinic in Sutton, MA. After 16 years of successful veterinary business ownership, Dr. Berger decided to sell his practice and relocate to Charlotte to serve the Weddington and Monroe communities. He is very pleased to have his family living in a warmer climate! Married to Gayle since 1991, they have three children including twins. He always has many pets at home, depending on what needs care. Dr. Berger has notoriety in the veterinary profession from authoring a textbook on Veterinary Laser Surgery. A diplomate of the American Board of Laser Surgery, he has also served as president of the Veterinary Surgical Laser Society. While Dr. Berger has a special interest in ultrasound and echocardiography, he also enjoys using all kinds of endoscopes to non-invasively help his patients and also performs several advanced orthopedic surgical procedures. When he has free time, he enjoys spending it with family. Dr. Berger is a foodie and loves to cook and eat. He also enjoys SCUBA and reading, but not together!

Jennifer Klajda

Jennifer is our Head Receptionist and has been a member of the WAH family since 2005. She has worked in the veterinary field for 12 years. While not at work, Jennifer loves to watch NASCAR and spend time with her two Chihuahuas, Cashew and Quita (pictured), and her cat Cleo.

Diana Forthman

Diana joined our team in 2005. She and her husband have five four-legged children; a cat named Peppers and four dogs - Timmy, PeeWee, Coalette, and Juliette. When Diana is not working or playing with her fur babies, she loves to watch NASCAR and football (Go Panthers!).

Sarah Rienhardt, RVT

Sarah recently moved to the area and joined the WAH family in February 2008. She is from Syracuse, NY, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY ESF. In her spare time, she enjoys riding her motorcycle, boating, barbequing, road trips, and hanging out with her friends and family. Sarah has a Bichon Frise named Dunkin, an African Grey Parrot, and frogs.

Liz Lowry

Liz began working as a receptionist at WAH in 2002. Prior to joining our team, Liz worked as an RN for ten years. She loves working with both animals and people. She has three dogs, Dirk, Babs, and Suzie, and a 15-pound cat named Shelby. Her hobbies are reading and traveling.

Emily Fowlkes

Emily is one of our receptionists. She likes playing outdoors with her three Labrador Retrievers - she has one in each color! Munchie is yellow, Minie is black, and Twinkle is chocolate. In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies, camping, and hanging out with her boyfriend and friends.
